Bounded by a crematorium, Cockfosters Underground station and a busy road we faced challenges here from the outset. As well as being required to meet the very stringent criteria under BREEAM, we were required to work under the added requirements as dictated by the Considerate Constructor Scheme.
In spite of a number of added complexities, not least the need to construct a retaining wall bounding the crematorium to the entire length of the rear of the site, one of our senior site managers, Andy Crisp, saw the project through to completion in just twelve weeks whilst achieving the highest standards of safety and quality. To top this, he exceeded the score required terms of BREEAM criteria but was nominated for, and later won, a Considerate Constructors Award for the superb way in which he managed the site whilst minimising the impact to the surrounding neighbours and the local environment. He was presented with the Award at a National ceremony in London.
